MyDAMplan Framework
(Video Coming Soon!)
Step 1: Build your DAM plan
The core of MyDAMplan is your plan board. This is where your Drivers, Actions and Minutes live. We made it easy to document, track and measure your Drivers, Actions and Minutes in order to keep you on track and give you visibility to see where your time and effort is going.
Step 2: Spend your DAM time where it matters most
With the many different demands in life it's easy to lose focus and not spend time on the truly important things. The things that make up a fulfilling life for YOU. MyDAMplan makes it easy for you to focus and spend time on what's important.
Our article on Finding Balance OVER Time (Not ALL The Time) explains our strategy of not overburdening yourself with trying to have a "perfectly balanced life" all the time (which is pretty much impossible). Instead, you can achieve balance over time, using MyDAMplan.
Step 3: Live your best DAM life!

Your best DAM life means different things to different people. MyDAMplan helps you achieve your goals and spend your time on the things that are truly important to YOU. So you can live your best DAM life!
For those of you who don't already know, the sunglasses and hardhat wearing fellow above is Bruce. The beaver. The myth. The legend. Bruce is the MyDAMplan ambassador and model student. Bruce is currently living his best DAM life! But it wasn't handed to him and it didn't happen by accident. Bruce wanted the most out of life, so he worked hard and followed the MyDAMplan framework. And now he’s living his best DAM life!
A Simple Formula for Success
Drivers = WHY
Actions = WHAT
Minutes = HOW MUCH
Therefore, doing complex math...dW + aW + mHM...move the WWHM to the other side of the equals sign...
You get:
Drivers + Actions + Minutes = WHY + WHAT + HOW MUCH
We know it's not rocket science, but we thought it might be helpful to explain how this equation is baked into the core of MyDAMplan.
Many times people are good at the WHY or the WHAT, but rarely both.
People who are good at the WHY (Drivers) are often people who lead with emotion when thinking through things. They are good at articulating and understanding why something is important to the them, but often times they are not good at taking decisive action.
On the flip side, people who are good at the WHAT are often people who lead with logic when thinking through things. They are good at taking quick and decisive action, but often times they are not good at slowing down and making sure those actions are truly accomplishing the original intent behind those actions.
MyDAMplan makes it easy to bring the WHY and WHAT together, so you can ensure you're focusing on what's most important.
How do people actually spend their time and HOW MUCH effort do things truly take?
With the many different demands in life it's easy to lose track of where you spend your time. Also, most people have a tendancy overestimate or underestimate HOW MUCH (Minutes) effort it actually takes to do something. Someone might put something off because they think they don't have the time to do it. But if they actually break it down, yes it might take some time upfront, but after that it might only take them 5-10 minutes a day of on-going effort.
Drivers + Actions + Minutes
MyDAMplan makes it easy to bring the WHY, WHAT and HOW MUCH together, so you can start focusing on the important things and spend your time where it matters most!
Now, on to the deep dive!
(Grab your ear plugs and pinch those nostrils)
Drivers (WHY)
Drivers consist of two things. Pillars and Goals.
Pillars are the BIG areas that make up a fulfilling life for you. Some examples of Pillars include:
Within each Pillar you can have Goals. Goals should be specific and tangible. Some examples of Goals include:
Note: Not every Pillar needs Goal(s) attached to them. But every Goal should be attached to a Pillar. Goals are optional, but recommended.
Actions (WHAT)
Actions also consist of two things. Steps and Habits.
Steps are generally one-time occurrences.
Habits are recurring (daily, weekly or monthly).
For each Pillar or Goal, map out the Steps and/or Habits you need to take in order to gain momentum and make progress towards achieving your Goals.
Using the Wellbeing and Lose 10 lbs example from above, some examples of Steps include:
Again, using the Wellbeing and Lose 10 lbs example from above, some examples of Habits include:
Minutes (HOW MUCH)
And just to keep it consistent, Minutes also consist of two things. Minutes Invested and Minutes Gained.
Minutes Invested include time you invest (the time you spend) on your Actions in order to achieve your Goals.
Minutes Gained include time you gain by eliminating or refocusing time you spent on habits and activities that aren't in line or maybe even work against you achieving your Goals.
Using the Actions example from above, some examples of Minutes Invested include:
Using the Actions example from above, an example of Minutes Gained is:
Pro Tip: If you eliminate a bad habit (minutes gained) and use that time for a good habit (minutes invested), that counts double!
Putting It All Together: Drivers + Actions + Minutes
Using the Wellbeing and Lose 10 lbs example from above, combined with the associated Actions and Minutes from above; you get:
We know we oversimplified this example, but you get the idea right?
